Body Mass Index or BMI calculates body fat according to the relationship of weight and height. It is considered a more useful measurement than weight.

Generally, (according to the World Health Organisation), the ideal BMI is between 20 and 25.

A BMI less than 20 is considered to be low for most people and may indicate underweight and may be associated with health problems for some people.

A BMI greater than 25 is considered to be high and may indicate overweight or obesity and is associated with an increased risk for health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol or hypertension plus many others. Bear in mind that athletes and body builders have a high BMI due to increased muscle mass.
